I am trying to find out what hair color would look best for me. I colored my hair a really dark brown, almost black, and alot of people have told me it makes me look pale. I have really light skin and blue eyes. My hair is really thick, long, and wavy. What should I do?

Best Black Hair Dye?

I know this question has been asked in several different contexts here but I have yet another.

I have been dying my hair black (well, blue-black) for probably 4 years now non-stop and I still have a problem with the color fading out. After about 3 weeks my hair has it's natural brown-auburn tinge back. Wella was my favorite at home dye until it was discontinued locally and I now use Garnier 100% Color which makes my hair look beautiful for a couple weeks and the dye is also easy to wash off of my face and ears. I only wash my hair every other couple of days and I use Pureology shampoo and conditioner because I wear hair extensions. Can anyone out there recommend a technique or a specific brand of hair dye that will keep my hair from fading the color so quickly?

I think you are silly to tint your hair black :( you will never get it out unless you grow it out! But, home kits fade anyway they dont use ingredients like salon brands. If you can get hold of some from a beauty supplier, get the colour you want (you can look in sample colour books for the colour code) and buy 6% peroxide and then do it at home, Problem with this though is its tricky and harder to get full coverage! Best to get it done at the hairdressers and go in once every 6 weeks for a root tint :)

Hi at one time I used to use to be a hair dresser. I dye my hair black and about 3 weeks later I notice it starts to fade. The blue/black dye does not stay on. You will have the black but the blue will disappear. There is a way to keep your color in. Try buying a shampoo from (Artec) made for black hair only. The way you use this shampoo is as follows-Wash your hair with a regular shampoo then was with Artec and leave it in for a minute or to then use your conditioner. Thats it! Artec is great they have it for blondes,brown and red hair also. Its a color depositing shampoo. Let me no how it works. You can get Artec shampoos at a beauty salon or go online. Put Artec shampoo in your search and it may even have its own site. Good luck.

try a chignon at the back, tight curls on the top, or if you cant do a chignon at the back, do a pony-tail, to do tight curls on top twirl a strand of hair round your finger an hold with a hair clip, do this all round the front of your head, and spray with hair lacquer and leave to set.

I think i know the type of look you are try to achieve, i think i saw this done on a tv programme months ago. Make sure your hair isn't too clean maybe wash it the day before then put it into a high pony tail ,with a nude colour hair band then curl your hair with tongs and put in some grips to keep them in place.

It all depends on the color of your eyebrows. I'm super fair skinned with freckles and light eyes and SUPER blonde eyebrows. I tend to gravitate towards darker colors that will contrast with my eyes and skin, but it's tough with my eyebrows. I've tried everything when it comes to eyebrow dying and tinting, but it's all a matter of how much time and energy you want to devote to it. I've decided to just stick with a lighter color.

If you're blessed with versatile brows, go for a dark brown.

Remember - your brows shouldn't be more than one shade lighter than your hair color.

So in the past week my boyfriend has bleached his hair, dyed it blue, used a hair color remover, and had it re-dyed deep deep blue. However, now he has splitting headaches that refuse to go away and he was bleeding from his ears when he woke up this morning. He doesn't want to go to the doctor because visits run expensive and he already goes to the doctor alot. So I'd like to know if there are any chemicals in hair dye that could cause this or if anyone has any ideas as to what might be going on.

I don't really have any power to make him go to have himself checked out, though I really want him to go. So unless he decides on his own its not currently an option.

Any help you guys can give would be awesome.

Bleeding; or any type of leaking for that matter, from the ears usually indicates some kind of serious head trauma. I've never heard of a case of someone bleeding from the ears after dying their hair too much. I suggest you go to the ER as soon as possible.

i took a shower this morning and yesterday i bought this stuff called BLUE MAGIC COCONUT HAIR CONDITIONER. i tried it this morning in the shower and obviously its for black people because it said moisture resistant on it that of course i didnt see until i put it in. omg and now my hair is all waxy and i cant get that thick vaseline-like conditioner out of my hair. i tried washing my hair with very strong shampoo that i have and i washed my hair like 5 times after so i could try to get it out and it still wont come out!!!! HELP!!!! how can i get it out of my "white people" hair. =] lol

Poor thing!!! Try washing your hair with dish soap, because it has the degreaser in it.

Once the grease is out, then deep condition (I love Pantene's Renewal) your hair so you can restore some of the moisture!

I'm so sorry, just use the shampoo for extremely oily hair. Dove shampoo and conditioner. even therma silk works. you found the grease I have been looking for lol. and i keep finding the ones for your hair like Motions. hope you get it out. Wavy can be cute if styled right.

Try using dawn dish detergent (works wonders for that), or even some vinegar soaked on it. It may take a few more washings, but have a light conditioner on hand when you are done because your natural oils will have been removed by this.

okay so I loves funky hair styles and colors.

but i just had to cut four inches off of my hair cause i bleeched the tips at a salon and instead of using a colour lift the girl just bleached it until it started breaking off!

but i love the long dark look but for me i also love reds and blues in my hair

i need to keep my hair natural for a while and just chill because i have a perm too...

any tips that can keep my hair healthy and help it grow faster???

and tips on how to cure my color addiction???

To keep it healthy shower every other day, like maybe at night go throughout your day and then the morning take another shower. It helps natrual oils from drying out. After hair is damp, try massaging some hair oil like this one... no it does not make it oily

i love to dye my hair too! i recently bleached some streaks into my dark hair. Cure it? keep away from the drug stores and dye! One day i changed my hair part to cover up some of the blond and i got tonnsss of compliments. try it for a day, and see how it goes... you'll feel more optimistic about havin undyed hair.

First let's talk about the orange colored spary tan, get an exfoliating pad like a Buff Buff with a little lemon juice, seriously. Soak in the tub first for 30 minutes.

The good news is the skin should "slough off" before Feb. 3rd. don't put anymore self tanner on.

For your make-up, since it is an evening event, use black eyeliner and black mascara with light colored eyeshadows witha hint of shimmer. Make sure to get a foundation shade that matches your skin, don't try to go too dark. Wear a Tan coled blush and pink lip gloss.

For your hair, ask your hair dresser which hair spray is best for your hair type- they know best.

Permanent hair color is washing out, hair stylists please answer!?

I went from a light/ medium blonde hair color to blue black. I used L'Oreal Preference box dye. It said on the box not recommended for people with very light hair. This was not the first time I've dyed my hair either but this is the first time I've dyed it this dark. The color looked wonderful for about the first week but it kept washing out every time I washed my hair. Now I'm left with a slight blue black color on top and ashy grey ends. The color on the deader parts of my hair didn't hold and the brassyness of my blonde is showing through. What is the reasoning behind this? I've been using shampoo and conditioner specifically for colored hair and the box dye was permanent. I'm baffled why the color didn't hold and it's only been 2 weeks or so. I'd like a hair stylist or someone who works in a salon to please answer this question. The only reason I can think of is some sort of chemical reaction and the "dead" hair on the ends not absorbing the color like it should.

I am not a hair stylist but my best friend is. I had the same exact problem and she said you HAVE TO use shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. Yep..I did that and it still faded out. She bought me some new stuff called "Kiwi". It locks the color in. I use the shampoo and conditioner and my color is staying in a heck of alot longer than it used too. Try it, its worth it.

i think u should curl the ends. this looks really cute with layered hair, i do it and i love the way it looks. i bet it would look even better on a blonde, but i do it just cuz i love the look. it takes me a little while to do, but its so worth it. green eyes look really pretty with long lashes and eyeliner at the edges of your eyes. it will really make them pop. experiment with different blushes and see what u like best. good luck! :) ~em

I'm 64, look abut 45-50. Been doing all over color myself light blond and missing a lot in the back. Want to have hi-lited instead. Have dark blond graying hair and light blue eyes, longish hair. Sides look Platinum and rest other colors. What type of hi-lites should I ask about? Not familiar with the terms low lite and hi lite????

hi, i hope this helps. First we'll start by clearing up the difference in hi-lites and low-lites. Hi-lites add streaks to your hair that are lighter than your current color, low-lites add streaks to your hair that are darker than your current color. For example, on your hair, a bright blonde streak would be considered a hi-lite and an auburn or brown streak would be considered a low-lite. When at a salon, if you're looking for more depth and dimension, or looking to tone your current color down a little more but you still want some streaks, you can get hi-lites and low-lites at the same time, this way you'll have some brighter streaks and some darker streaks to balance you color and make your hair appear more dimensional. If you have a budget to stay within (salons can be expensive depending on length of hair) then i would recommend an at home kit. The one i use at home is called Frost and Design and you put a cap on and pull the peices you want out (so you can determine how much you want colored and how thickly you want it colored because very thick streaks are called "chunks"). It's relatively simple and inexpensive. If you want to color all around first, as streaking will leave you with some gray, try an at home kit that has all over color and streaking included. i would ask for an all over weave that way the gray will blend in with the blonde. then the gray will not show as much. it is a very common way to deal with gray hair.
