(Ex: Today one of my friends came to school with the back of her hair dyed blue. Now generally everyone thought that this was cool except for the administration. The administration confronted her and told her that unless she changed her hair color she would not be allowed back in school.) I find this unfair, and it also seems a bit prejudice to not allow someone into school because of their physical appearance. We attend a public school and I want to know if they can legally do this. If not could you please present us with proof. Thank you.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? well..if its the schools rules before she died her hair.....
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? I think everyone should dye their hair blue.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? If it is part of the school dress code and it is applied to everyone, then it most likely isn't illegal.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Don't know - look into the district policy on dress and appearance - it should be discussed there!
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? If its in the rules/dress code they can do that but if not then they cant.My friend has blue hair and I have red dyed hair our schooldoesnt care.Plus what if its permanent dye thats a dumb rule!PROTEST?!
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? If it was the schools rules, and she dyed her hair anyway, it is her fault and she shouldn't be allowed back in school. Does it also seem unfair to you guns aren't allowed in schools? Rules are rules
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Read your school's handbook and see if it was against the rules to begin with. Considering it's a PUBLIC school, I'm guessing that they can't decide what students do with their bodies (as long as their not coming to school in a swimsuit/underwear/nothing.) Do your research for your specific school and talk to an adult outside of the administration (eg. don't get a teacher in the middle of this, though)
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? the us is a free country, but my dress code states that such "disruptions" may be forced to change....ask where it says in the student handbook or rules! If they find it, tell them they need to better educate students on their dress code, cuz many schools suck at that..
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? I don't think it is legal. I can't provide proof. You will have to talk to your administration and ask them for proof that it is school policy or a part of the rules to not be able to dye your hair.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Yes they can. With all of the GANGS today school have to do something to stop it. Which is sad for the few who do not have anything to do with gangs.
Which is way some schools are go to uniforms!
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? I don't think that she should be banded from school if her hair is died, I mean it is her life and she could do whatever she wants 2 her hair if she wants to. It's not the school's authority to tell her to change it.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? i think this is un fair too cuzz they usually only do dat at private schools
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Most schools today have a code of acceptable, clothes, etc. Our high school policy states that no one may have their hair done in a way that is a distraction to others around them (mohawks a foot high, blue hair, etc. would be considered a distraction) The school has a legal right to enforce the codes voted on and set by the school board, which is elected by the public here.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Have her parents check with the school board or the schools
superintent and no its not fair [to judge a book by its cover] go blue
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? They probably passed out a book of rules at the beginning of the year, and you signed a paper saying you read it and agreed to the rules set forth. That now makes it OK for them to enforce what ever actions they said they would take against physical appearances that were...inappropriate....See every year we just sign them and send them back....but nobody really "reads" them...
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Your school or school district has a handbook, available to ALL, students, parents etc, outlining its distinct rules.
Not TOO difficult. Keep it local.
My bet is, given the size of an Orlando school district, the administration of your school would not act outside of it's boundaries. Can You Spell.....................LAWSUIT???
Better yet, if you can navigate your way to Yahoo!Answers, you can find this info online. Goodluck2You!
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Yes, they can do that.
They can set a dress code, or require uniforms, if they choose.
Your hair and makeup are part of any dress code.
Get used to it. When you get jobs, your employers won't put up with the nose rings, blue hair and shocking tattoos at all.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? Actually, I saw the exact same thing happen back in 1982 when I went to high school. A student tinted her hair with blue %26amp; purple strips and was told to leave the school and not return until she took out the highlights.
The answer to your question, is no they cannot force any student to change their hair colour. They do have the right (legally) to forbid any person from entering the school or it's grounds, if they so decide (same as a store... it is NOT public property, it is owned by a private institution and they have the same rights as any store owner).
So if they decide that allowing a student to come to school with their hair tinted or streaked sets a bad precedent for discipline, then yes they can send them home and tell them not to come back until their hair is a normal colour. They cannot make anyone change their hair colour... If you want to fight this, you'll have to get your parents to take this up with your local school board as a matter of student rights (check first if the school board has a charter that says what they are required to do and what they allowed to do). Then make a case for kids that wear hats in class as opposed to kids that don't. Or how about girls that wear barrettes versus those that wear their hair long. It's an issue of style vs school discipline. If you can show that a student can be a good student regardless of their hair, then maybe you can win this one...
But don't hold your breath.
Can a public school legally force a student to change their hair color in Orlando? There is prob a very "vague and interpretive" school policy they are quoting.
If she can't get the blue die out of her hair, she should definitely SHAVE IT.
